Gary_Cusdin Going back to other issue of misfire in 1 and 4 and no changed part has cured fault. This all cam round after the water pump was changed. I gave the guy the tool which once he finished he told me he did not end up using and he used a piece of card to hold everything together. Now, I can't help thinking still that dose my issue have anything to do with timing chains being out. What are the affects of a mis-aligned balance chain? Can water pump change really cause a misfire in the system or should I be looking for something else and this is just pure coincidence?
vocky balancer chain mis-aligned causes a lumpy engine, this can in extreme cases cause the knock sensor to trigger. There really isn't a way of using cardboard to hold a tensioned chain in place, the cardboard just isn't strong enough
Gary_Cusdin Yeah, I am not sure how he did it and why I gave him the tool for him to use. This is why I am wandering if he may have done something. It was fine before pump change but leaking coolant from pump seal badly. Unless there was something else there that has now become clear since change I still have my suspicions something he did may have affected it. Idle before it went to him was around 7-8 hundred and since it has been around 6-7 hundred and never staying at the same level. O2 sensor has come up now and then since the issue but I presume that because of the misfire and wrong mixture and it clears for ages. Do you think I am right to have these doubts?? He has come to diagnose since and has never related this to his work. Where do I stand as this was only there after I collected it from him and he never noticed it at that time
