Can I get a tailgate release keyfob?

It was a bit hard to think of a title for this thread so the best I could come up was Can I get a tailgate release keyfob?, which will do :p.....

I have a 2001 Astra G Hatch which has the standard lock/unlock buttons on the Keyfob. I want to be able to remote start my Car PC so I've 'piggybacked' an aftermarket keyless entry system to it. The main problem with this is twofold; the inability of the aftermarket system to produce double pulse for deadlocking, and the extra control unit in the footwell area....

My questions are - Can I substitute an OEM central locking unit that has tailgate release (i.e. from an Astra/Omega/Vec? Or program a three button keyfob to my current unit (suspecting this to be very unlikely)?

I've also modded my standard Mk4 key to a flip key, which is defo my intention for the new key too 🙂.

back when I had a nova I used the rear window wiper switch - loom and wired it into a central locking motor to pop open the boot

there is a 3 button key fob but im unsure if the standard astra system supports it as is
if it does the output would need to be identified then it could be used to trigger your switch for pc
using a simple window closer with a 1 sec delay on the this output would be more than ample

I'm thinking an Omega would probably be the best donor, else I'll stick with the aftermarket solution and figure out a double pulse creator 🙂.

Mike, I'm planning not wanting to pop the tailgate at all mate, just rob the remote key fob signal output to activate my Car PC start up circuit. So I can start the Car PC before getting in the car 😃.

Thats cool mate, and I appreciate your reply.

The actual power supply unit is set to ignition following so comes on and off with ignition. It's in my nature to complicate things further, as such I've added a refuelling timer delay relay and permanent live switching. I've also piggy backed an aftermarket keyless entry system but this doesn't deadlock, just locks as it only produces a single pulse 🙁. That said, I have the tailgate pulse working from the aftermarket keyless entry system to activate my PC so I can fire her up whilst putting my shoes on. I'm just wanting to go OEM if poss 🙂.
