Hi All

Vectra B (Z22SE) Estate with Air Con

Cooling system was drained to rebuid the engine.

All back together now but it only took 5 1/2 litres of water/antifreeze to fill it where as the Haynes Manual says it required 7 litres...

I am worried I have an air lock somewhere and I dont want to run the engine up to temperature in case the head is not being cooled.

Any advice on how to check / bleed the system?

think you may need to remove the cap off the expansion bottle and get the engine up to temp to open up the thermostat

Vauxhall cooling systems are self-bleeding.

Fill the system through the expansion bottle. Start the engine and allow it to warm up. When it's cool, top up the expansion bottle.

Use the car normally, after two/three cycles of cold-hot, the level will have equalised.
