injector question

quick question for people in the know of diesel injectors. delphi EJDR00501Z.

iv taken the injectors apart to try cleanning them before writting them off and spending 500+ on recons or 600 new, on the nozzel there are 6 holes on 1 injector 3 are blocked, 2 on another (hopfully why the car is running so badly)

they are sat in redex at the moment which is working slowly so far 12hrs.
any ideas on how to unblock the holes could wire wool be used on the outer casing of the nozzel?

if youve taken them apart they are going to need recalibrating. using very soft wire brushes works, not worked on modern injectors but we used petrol for cleaning injectors on older diesel engines. (pre common rail)

its only the lower section of the injector taken apart, the solenoid section hasnt been touched, are you still ment to recalibrat?
(its on the mondeo again and talk ford members mentioned nothing about recalibrating :banghead🙂

i can try petrol and carb cleaner tomorrow and the outer casing can have a light rub down with the wool 🙂 ill see what it gives

They will probs need recoding to the car. The ecus on the mondeos tend to forget the codes over time and the car will run like a bag of shit

because youve taken the nozzles off they will need recalibrating and resetting to the ecu, for future referance if you want to do a quick home clean rig up a second fuel tank (only needs to be around a gallon size) plumb it in before the fuel filter and on the return to tank line so the engine runs on the new tank and get some fuel system cleaner about 1litre is enough bleed the fuel system on this and run the engine at around 1000rpm untill all the cleaner is used up. works a treat at cleaning injector nozzles without removing the injectors. not as good as fitting reman items though.

i did that already but as they were blocked up it didnt help. (for me anyway)

Just thought id update this i ended up getting new injectors at a cost of £610:cry:

worth a try cleaning them but didnt work. hopfully these will last 129000 milies as well.

Bloody hell, they weren't cheap. Then again, like you said, if the last 129k that's not a bad economy of scale

no they weren't at all, we could have gone for recons but it was £100 less so on the scale of it not a lot. i read a lot of comments on recons not lasting so didnt fancy risking it.
