Engine Doesn't Sound/feel The Same

I was driving home on the motorway one day when the pitch/harmonics of the engine suddenly changed and a low sort of vibration came in along with the sound of a loose chain.. When I got home I checked oil found it to be low. Further inspection revealed a broken balance chain guide and tensioner. I have replaced these and the loose chain sound is gone but the engine/feel of the car just isn't the same as it was.

Has anyone got any ideas as to what this could be? thanks in advance

usually the balancer shafts are not timed correctly :rolleyes:

Sorry for hijacking the thread but mine sounds a bit like that. Just had both chains done when i had a new head put on. How do you tell if the balance chain is timed up correctly?

Thanks Vocky. So when the tensioner went that automatically threw the balancing shafts out? whats involved in fixing the timing?

Fixing involves removing the balance chain and refitting it but the timing chain needs to come off too
