I've had a couple of faults with my existing PowerLine adapters (have had them over 3 years now), so I'm going to look at getting some new ones, that do 500mbps with Gigabit connections on them (can't quite work out how they can advertise/sell 200/500mb ones when they only have 100mb ports on them).
Anyway, while I'm at it, as the price of cat6 has come down, I was also considering swapping all my old cables out, as they have been acquired with various bits of equipment, and I'm sure there are even some cat5 in there, rather than 5e.
So, reason for the post, should I see a more reliable data transfer speed with cat6 over cat5e?
Another reason I want to do this is I can order different lenghts of cable, so I don't for example, have to use a 2m cable to connect the PC to the switch which is sat directly next to it, and have a massive loop tucked back under the desk.
