Wiper Arm Spline

The drivers side wiper arm needs replacing on the seat, I sourced a second hand one from a 2012 car it arrived today in mint condition but the spline is just rounded in the arm.

Shall I not even bother trying to fit it, or will the 13mm bolt hold ?

I don't want to damage the spline on the actual car?

The spline is actually on the spindle itself, so the arm shud be ok... its only a soft alloy and when you tighten it down it shud grip the spindle(no splines on the arm its just indentations from the spindle )

Nice one cheers Daz, I just saw the groves in the arm but they all looked rounded with bits of metal presumed it had been ragged off, if that's the case I will try and fit it tomorrow.

I didn't want to force it on and round off the splines on the car side, if that makes sense.

I'd say it will be ok .. to remove the old arm, undo the nut but leave on the spindle, then give the arm a jerk up the screen, it shud loosen off,, if not u may need a wiper arm puller..

Well, I think I need a puller, undid the nut to see a bit of rust on the thread, I tugged and pulled not a bean got a small jammy bar from engine side solid didnt move a mm.

On the upside with all the tugging and pulling the old arm seems to be working much better lol.

I tried to remove the wiper arm on Amy's old Corsa, and I couldn't remove it just by pulling on it, so it stayed on while I did what I needed to do.

I know the Seats arms are tapered but it would not shift, had a look for a old crank puller but could not find it, TBH I am now thinking I will send back the second hand unit and if this one gets much worse I ill get a new one get a garage to fit it.

Some arms can be a total PITA to remove si, you have to be careful you dont fubber parts of the linkage when removing them.... we use one of these if all else fails

Cheers Daz,thanks for the link also, I was a bit worried when it was all flexing that I would damage the linkage. As said seems a tad better after the brute force attack.

Not sure if the jobs worth buying a tool for and still not sure about the rounded second hand part so may just see how I go.

I bought the tool you posted up Daz and it worked a treat, it went with a real bang when it let go.

New one on and not slipping but even this one leaves a gap right in the line of sight on the drivers side 🙁 I may see if the blade beds in as the actual arm is much stronger.

So that's new Bosch wipers and arm and it still isn't clearing, confused to what it may be.

It clears on the sweep up but not on the return sweep down leaving a mead /gap, really odd?

Have you tried flat blades si.
They tend to shape to the contour of the screen better

Yep the Bosch ones are flat blades, it's odd clears on sweep up but on sweep down it doesn't touch the screen.
