Pre Cat today

Right boys a good night on the lash has got me brave enough to start on the pre cat today. Which gasket am i going to need to get? the one which connects the maifold to the down pipe?

I did not even bother with the gasket when I did mine, as I had a cat back system on it, and I knew it was newly fitted. Good luck today, try and get some new pics up if you can :wink: . I wish I could do mine now but I am going to wait til I get the Remus middle section first 😛

You need a new gasket between the manifold and the front pipe - pt no 24409332.

reuse the old one, and chances are it will leak

Right update......

While trying to work it off the flange on the back box has snapped off and the center pipe is corroded so I have ordered a Remus Box and center.

While driving home I noticed a rattle when i slowed down which I am assuming is a little part that didnt come out when I took the cat out. Its also doing the kangaroo with low revs.

Box is coming on Tuesday so i am going to take off the cat again and try to get rid of that noise. I assume that the kanagrooing might be ok after a drive to bed it in?

I think anyone from now on doing this mod should take the battery off the car. Re setting the Ecu after this mod should help out. Did you tip the exhaust upside down to make sure all the crap was out mate? Also don't drive it too quick straight away, let the car get used to it not being there first. I had no problem at all doing my mod. It was fine, I even drove it at normal speeds straight off. How long did it take you mate? It's defo a good mod for the 2.2 to have it removed! 🙂

It took a could of hours and a good few different tools. Banged the crap out a few times and kept blowing it out with the air compressor. The only thing i can think is that when we oiled the drill bit then some oiled metal has got stuck down the pipe and when the oil has burnt off it come loose. I am going to take off the battery for a bit now and take it for a spin. lol when i have put the battery back on of course.

At least u didnt go to the extreme of cutting the downpipe just below the precat and bashing the sod out like i had too..
Also mine was fine straight off gave it a good caining and have had no probs..

we were going to cut it and weld it. Wish we hd now tbh. Then there would have been no bits left in there for definate. Its one of those things im not going to let it get to me just wait till tuesday and take it one step at a time. have to look on the bright side and that is.......

this will be sticking out the back of my car on tuesday night....

what you guys think that will look like with my prodrive rear bumper?

Well the boys.....

Took the battery off and all was good after the pre cat mod. Seems to be running ok. done about 200 miles with no problems.

Got the exhaust yesterday and bought the wrong gasket grrrrrr put the old one on for now so I have got to go and get a new one today. I need someone to drive it so I can hear what it sounds like from outside the car. here is a pic tell me what u think...

That looks spot on Jase, really suites the prodrive rear bumper. What does it sound like in the car? Is it very loud?

So i only need one gasket?

Reason i am asking is i am going to powerflow in crewe at 1pm, they are removing the center box from the veccy and are going to have a go at removing the pre-cat.
