Hesitant After Water Pump Change

Had the pump changed yesterday.
All seemed fine when I had it back and when he was running it.
Once I drove it it seemed a little slow.
When trying to go up the revs around 3000 it seemed to slow a little and then go normal at 3500.
Kept driving to see what occurred.
When I tried accelerating again hard it felt low revs and then engine management kicked in. When stopped at roundabouts it was stuttering as though it was going to die. Didn't though
Turned off and started again it cleared.
Came on 2 times more and now stays with the car still running a little sluggish.

I would have thought EGR either gone or needs cleaning.
Does this sound right with the symptoms?
Nothing else seems of issue.
If so what would be best, clean the thing up or blank off??
Or, could this be an air lock??

could also be spark plugs or coil pack related

Misfire in 1 and 4.
Fault now cleared and not come back.
Either faulty ignition coil or I think a little left over water from the seal gone on pump.
Will take plugs out and clean them up (still only 2 months old) and see what happens.

Good chance its the coil. check for spark on each plug when coil pack removed this will let you know for sure.It cant be plugs if they are only 2 months old

Even if there was coolant going into the oil??
The issue I had was oil in the coolant, which seems to have gone so must have been the pump letting it in.
I am guessing a little may have transferred back into engine, at least that's my hope.
I am expecting the coil pack to go faulty as it looks like original which would have done 140000 now.
Just reluctant to spend another 80 for now

You can get a good second hand one from scrapyard for 25 quid max that's whats worked for me in the past

Vocky has mentioned something about using some washing up liquid in your coolant to remove oil that has mixed in with coolant .flush through a couple of times and it will remove oil in your coolant system do a search in forums to find out how much to use

Oil has gone.
All done when pump changed. New header as well.
No signs of issues and done nearly 50 miles and this came up.
It's def the coil as it still feels hesitant so not firing from 1 or 2. No engine management so not going above 3000RPM to keep it clear.

Update.
Changed coil and still misfire.
I put new Iridium plugs (3 months ago) which have a 0.4mm gap and not a 0.8mm gap. Could this be the problem??
If so why only on 1 and 4??
What else if not plugs?

Does suggest the gap being incorrect could be the issue

If you have a misfire on 1 and 4 chambers then its possible your timing chain may have slipped a tooth or 2.

Do a compression test on all 4 chambers (wet and dry) and post results. You should have all results within +- 1 bar

The EHow has great points. Sounds like the symptoms.
Hesitant only states about larger gaps and not shorter.
On Vec forum a guy said he had the same problem on cylinder 4 and it turned out to be fuel pump. It was putting electric error up.
His was around 3000rpm as well.
I certainly hope not at those prices.
20 quid is a better fix if it works for now so prob off down VX later. They stock them so hopefully take them back if doesn't work or sell the Iridium.

I don't have kit for compression test :-(

Genuine GM plugs work the best in these engines and if that doesnt fix it the halfords sell a tester for about £15 i think.

Changed plugs no change.
So possibles now
Fuel pump (got a Siemens so could change anyway)
Injector 1 and 4
Leak in system
Blockage

Don't think I am missing anything. Will get a tester soon to and post results.
On the up side I now have spare coil and plugs

Im stuffed now.
New pump fitted and no change.
Only really leaves gaps in system or timing out.
Suppose I better go and buy a pressure kit and get them all measured up.

Or i suppose the worst of them all. Could be related to piston rings or valve issues.
All renewed in Oct last year.
When we did the rings cylinder 4 had a little mark. He said it should be fine but I am really worrying now.
Not as if I can even sell the car with these issues.
I wish I bought another car!!
