Vectra C 2003 Sri Idle Issue And Burning Oil.

Hi im just new to the forum. i found it yesterday and have already purchased the egr block and cheater chip. i have an issue with my vectra c 2003 Sri 2.2 petrol. The car runs ok but if you accelerate hard it hesitates, if i rev the car when parked it backfire slightly and it is burning oil. The other issue i have is when i dip the clutch slowing down to a stop the rev counter goes searching up and down for a second or two between 1000 and 500 revs it will then even out and be ok just to tick over. Any suggestions please on any of the issues would really help. for info i have changed the temp switch and have blocked the egr off.

have you cleaned the throttle body and reset the ecu afterwards (disconnect battery for 20 minutes)

Is there a link on here how to find and clean a throttle body as i haunt done it yet and will i need any new parts ie gaskets. do u no if this would make the car burn oil or blow out excessive smoke. thanks

it is quite easy to clean the throttle body, just remove the intake pipe and have a look to see how bad it is. If bad then undo the four bolts and remove the electrical plug, then you can clean it on the bench.

burning oil and excessive smoke is usually the oil scraper rings are gunged up on the pistons

Done the throttle body. it was quite bad on the top and really covered black on the bottom. Will try it now and update with a reply. with regards to the rings is it a big job to replace them. thanks for your other information.

In relation to the throttle body clean the car appears to be sorted. instead of the revs dropping right down when you dip the clutch it hangs around 1200 revs and comes down slowly if you come to a stop. thanks very much is is far better touch wood.
