it isn't really hard, just time consuming.
remove cylinder head
drop off sump
remove pistons
clean piston ring gaps
fit new piston rings
use a piston ring compressor and refit the piston/rods to the block
fit a new head gasket and replace the large 10 x head bolts with new bolts (the 4 smaller bolts can be re-used)
refit downpipe to exhaust manifold (no need to remove manifold from head)
refit inlet manifold
refit cam timing chain and oil pump etc
you will need a torque wrench, piston ring compressor tool, some torx sockets, a 16mm socket for the 3 downpipe nuts, a 21mm socket for the crank pulley bolt, general sockets, spanners, screwdrivers etc , a decent trolley jack and axle stands
