Smells from supercharging

Hi all,

I've been find out as much as possible about the S/C conversion and today came across two threads that say some people could smell either fuel or burnt oil from inside their car. Just wondering how and why this can happen as wouldn't want this happening to me. I have a Astra G.

It could be the seal on the fuel cap that has gone. There have been a few threads on here about it, and I've also had it on the VXR. Just buy a new petrol cap from Vauxhall for a few quid.

me and steve used to get really strong smells of fuel whilst we were running on the base map ,but since its all been set up ive had no smells

Cool, thanks for the replys. I should have said on the first post that I have not S/C my coupe yet but trying to plan as much as possible. So pretty much as long as all is plumbed in correct, there should be no smells?

think you will get them whilst running on base map as it runs rich ,but yeah as long as your all plumbed in you wont have no smells

I had fumes entering the cabin from my oil catch tank after the conversion. The tank filter was sited just in front of the bulk head under the windscreen. I removed the filter and extended the pipe from the tank and ran it down to the front of the car down near the bumper. Not had any problems since.

The engine does breathe heavier once the conversion has been done.
