Battery light fault

Took the car out the other night and while driving it the dash light stereo flashed on and off so drove it carefully home. Was going to take it work but the battery was flat. So I left the battery on charge to take it the next day I hear you all saying its the alternator but I now no battery light on my dash board i'v checked every fuse and also with the ignition on I can hear the PAS pump motor running?.. I removed the alternator tonight but I can't work out why I have no battery light on the dash i'v removed the speedo but the light is a micro led I was wondering if the alt was over charging and blew the bulb (had this happen on a customers car) but this being a micro led I doubt there would ever be enough power there to blow it?

Anyone else had this or got any suggestions?

Check the bulb is ok first as the alt will not charge if bulb is blown then once bulb is ok check the charge rate

Like I said it is a micro led so I would have thought it would be ECM controlled And to get to it to check it I will have to remove the speedo and rpm needles.

Hiya

Only 1 out of the 3 astra coupes ive had an alternator fail showed a battery light. Why? I dont know but the battery light did work on all 3 dashes (ignition on showed the light). Best thing todo is get the car started and put a meter on the battery to see if its getting any charge.

i was looking to much into it i think lol iv put an earth to the signal wire on the alternator and the battery light came on and the PAS pump stops making the noise. So the pump obviously works when it see's that the battery is charging (batery light off) so the way in which my alternator has burnt out has taken the sensor part out too. Got a new alternator sitting here waiting to put on but just cant be arsed lol will do it sometime next week.
