I've wanted a vx220 for a few years and never got round to buying one 🙁

I went for a vec B 2.2 as at the time (2002) it was half the price of a vx220 (vec = £10k, vx220 = £20k)

I choose the 2.2 as the engine is the same as the vx220 and any engine mods could be swapped over.

So next year I'm going to get a coral blue vx220 with leather seats, rather than buying throttle bodies for my vec B (I can still buy them at a later date for the vx220)

I will swap engines between the two before selling the vec B :wink:

Sounds like a plan to me 🙂. I love the VX220, it will be lighter that the Vectra so it should be a bit quicker🙂. Go for it mate....

that's the point, the power to weight ratio will give me a huge boost for the same engine 😃

trouble with the vec is the value keeps falling, only worth around £4k now :cry:

throttle bodies will cost around £2k, that's half the value of the vec :shock: but only a sixth of the value of a vx220 🙂

My wife has given the all clear, so a vx220 is coming 😃

so is the vx220 just the Z22SE engine and thats i, cos i thought they had the C20LET in it ???

there was 2 versions mate one with the z22se and the other with a z20let in it

The Z20LET was fitted to the VX220 Turbo. The Z22SE was only fitted to the VX220 N/A. If thinking of changing the engine from the 2.2 Vectra, bear in mind that the VX220 never had power steering and that the inlet cam in the Vectra runs the power steering pump so you'll have to change the inlet cam.

that's a good point, forgot about the cam slot for the power streering pump drive

still it's easily sorted with a bit of machining 🙂
