jp6 hi all. went to pick my girlfriend and son after work tonight. parked up,switched everything off and said hello to my friend for 2 mins, went back to the car n she was flat. got my dad to jump me off and fired straight up. drove the car back home which is 6.8 miles an noticed the dash lights are dim and occasionally the battery light will light up for a few second then go off. mainly when steering at idle. the abs light and the 1 next to it (carnt remember what the symble is) came up twice but thats all. is any ideas? no eml and car drove fine otherwise. cheers jp
MikeS get a volt meter check voltage of battery with engine off / then engine running should be around 12v engine off and around 13.5-14.5 engine running cold could be a charge fault with the alternator
jp6 ok ill do that tomorrow. only need the car untill sat morning when i take it off road for winter n it starts playing up now. grrr! lol
jp6 right lads. got a meter on car this morning. at idle it was 12.27v. at 3k it was 12.67v and switchd off it was 12.43v. i had put charger on car over night as needed it for work this morning. obviously the car started and the drive to work was fine. dash was bright and no warnings on dash. home time came and she fired straight up. drove to my lockup which is 5 min away from work with no problems or warnings eitha. this a alternator issue?
Blue_Eyes Don't get a new one just get it recondition .. I had mine done 4 yrs ago and it's still going strong.
jp6 car off road for winter now and im thinking about fitting a v6 in it tbh. will see how finance's are after xmas is over. still got my old v6 engine from my mk3 so half way there.
