Egr mod

I see a lot of people do this on their cars, excuse me for sounding a bit dumb but what benefits would you be getting from this mod and would it be worthwhile doing this in my Vec?

You remove the EGR valve. Fit one of our cheaters, and a blanking plate. It stops the exhaust gasses going back into the combustion chamber (which is what the EGR allows).

Given we've sold almost 1,000 EGR cheaters over the years, I'd say it's quite a popular mod (y)

Lol I know that it's a popular mod I just wondered what the benefit is of it. Does it increase economy, power, etc.

Blanking mine off has allowed the engine to run and accelerate slightly smoother, but most noticeable is increased torque.

Thanks for that. I know that loads of people do this mod but didn't really know why. Might have to investigate this one. Any other cheap & easy mods I should be looking at? Already done 3 pipe mod, just need a panel filter.

Because the EGR valve is prone to failing, and a replacement is £80 plus. So most people just blank it off and fit a cheater for the sake of £20.
