piper manifold

Hi all, ive recently purchased a piper 4-1 manifold and also bought new gaskets and nuts and bolts too. so im all set to hopefully fit it this weekend 🙂 it looks a pretty straight forward sawap but all i was wondering is, is there anything i should look out for or pbstacles that might be in the way? any info would be great, thanks.

if its anything like the one i had it didnt last long.ended up with aload of cracks in it as they are quite poorly made mate

yeah mate ive heard the welds on these can crack! ive had it in work all week and cleaned it up good as brand new and also filed out where the weld on the outside had protruded to help improve the flow. i also did discover hairline cracks along the flange that connects to the down pipe so i ground it out and re welded it just to make sure. the welds look solid everywhere else but only time will tell haha!

well after reading your thread properly i thought id best check mine out to see if it had also cracked in the same place..... and it has :mad: so i took it into work yday to weld it yet again but was busy all day! so monday im goin to dye pen it to expose all the cracks and hopefully then it shouldnt leak! would it be a good idea to use exhaust paste too to ensure it wont leak?

I always thought it was a bad idea to use exhaust paste anywhere before the main cat?

NO!! As Matt commented above, No paste before the cat.

i wasnt going to put any on the inside just on the outside around the joints, or is it best just to deffo leave it?
