Hi i have just bought an astra coupe 2.2 yesterday..iv noticed on the trip computer screen it says check oil level..which i have done..and it is at correct level. also the engine oil light came on in the dash..aswel as the cooling fan kicking in as soon as i started up the car from cold start..once i switched ignition back off and on again the light in dash and the fan stopped and the car ran as normal
any ideas wht is causing this and wht solution is please?

Yeh thats wht i was thinkin it could be..any idea where the oil level sensor is??

Not sure where maybe it under or side of the sump pan

Oil level sensor is located on the front of the sump pan. It may be disconnected/bad wiring or faulty. I have a few spares if you need 1.

And if you do want to change it then the sump has to come off

Thanks mate..how much would u want for it? Wow the sump has to come off?? Is it difficult to get it off?

yes leave it - nasty dirty horrible job dropping the sump - I don't think it is worth it for a sensor

i think you can join the wires together and it stops the warning - use to work on the old astra gsi's with coolant level sensors that disintegrated within months and cost 50 quid a shot
