Iv managed to get approx 36.6mpg which has covered 345miles the fuel light hasn’t come on yet so if i drive like i have been that should be another 50miles?

that’s driving sensibly keeping it on average 2500rpms max 3000rmp and travelling between 50 and 60mph on single carriage ways.

is 36.6mpg about the best we can expect out of theses? is there away of improving it a bit?

Think I once managed 365 miles from full tank mostly 275 - 310 though.

above 30 mpg in a 2.2 engine is good imo

wrong car then for good mpg 🙁 but it is good fun when you open them up tho 😃 ill have to keep driving the way i am them and hopfully get over 35mpg all the time. i did manage to get 40mpg the other day when i used cruise control, altho that was a 1 off as the roads were empty and everyday since there has been traffic and i carnt use cruise 🙁

If you want high MPG you have got the wrong car although for a 2.2 i dont think they are too bad, all depends what you want out of a car? I remember a mate a having a 3.2 V6 A3 most he ever saw was 16 MPG :cry: and down to 7.7Mpg when i drove it :LOL:

I have never seen over 26 mpg.that is driving very carefully aswell. Car is going in for service plus I think there is a problem with the air intake. I would be very happy with 30 mpg see what happens after service

on short journeys 32 to 34 mpg but on a long run the very best i seen was 41

My Zafira has this setup: Pre-cat removed, Balance shafts removed, raised compression to 10.5:1, ported exhausts ports only on the head, panel filter & egr cheater + blanking plate. Everything else is standard.

This is a good setup to increase your mpg with normal driving but also will put a smile on your face if you want to have fun! Result is I can drive from Margate in Kent to Colchester in Essex (approx 120 miles) on less than 1/4 tank of fuel, daytime driving/mainly motorway miles.

i used to get approx 350-380 miles from a full tank on mine when i just used it everyday , i got over 400 on a motorway run , but our lass says i drive like an old man !! lol

Nearly two tanks through my Vectra B (02 2.2 CDX estate manual) and it already.is.less economical than the 2.0 x20xev model I was driving previously.

On the motorway it seems to average around 40mpg, more below 70mph. The first full tank that went through came out at 38mpg, which was mainly motorway and A roads, plus a couple of days of my normal commute, which is a bit stop/start, some miscellaneous running while fixing it etc. The fuel computer agreed with the calculator so at least I won't have to tweak it in Tech2.

The latest tank is down to 33mpg, about 100 miles on motorways, possibly the same again commuting and about 1/3 of a tank left if that.

It is a bit hesitant as though it has some flat spots through the rev range and is long overdue a service, so I am hoping it will improve.

yeh x20xev engine though is thirsty in traffic same as the z22se

best i got out of a z22se is around 41mpg doing 62 mph on motorway

Believe it or not but its true I actually managed to get 550 miles from mine on a trip to London and back and I didn't exactly go steady either ! I usually get about 350 miles around town and short journeys, but it loves motorways and long runs, try resetting the mpg gauge on the motorway at 75 and you'll get 45mpg from it. Around town about 32mpg. Once I had my chain etc changed that was hanging off I got an additional 5mpg.

My last tank has so far covered 377 miles, averaging 39.7mpg, fuel gauge is now on about 1/4 tank and it's proclaiming 135 miles remaining range. I'll probably fill it up tomorrow and will compare the calculated consumption with the actual fuel used. Last tank was pretty much spot on.

Amusingly I set out on Monday to Salisbury (101 miles from here) with about the same amount of fuel remaining and about 80 miles remaining on the range display, filled up on the A303 after about 80 miles with 67 miles remaining still on the display and needle not even in the red.

I am driving it conservatively though. 70mph with cruise control on where possible, otherwise plodding along smoothly in traffic on the M25 at 50-60mph. I'd hate to run one of these if I couldn't moderate my right foot... 😉

mines now droped to 4mpg less still the same driving style roads etc. i think its because its now colder so its not running as hot as it needs to me to get the 40mpg.

my veccy b 2.2 only gets 29mpg at best and lows of 19mpg tolaly standard car rear bushes need doing but which veccy dont need them from time to time

calculated that my motor does 37.5 mpg on A roads with average traffic and a very light foot

Right, my last refill was calculated... 399.5 miles, computer said 39.7mpg, actual mpg was 40.1. I had just under 1/4 of a tank left on the gauge.

I've been driving it pretty gently though, not sure I could keep it up indefinitely.
