Fuel Additives....

Hi all, I was just wondering... Are these are as safe to use as they all suggest? I use redex every couple k before a long journey and my car does run smoother and feel a bit more responsive. But i looking in Halfrauds the other day and came across one called 'NOS Wynns octane booster' which claimed to boost the octane upto 7 points and increases power, performance and acceleration! Are our cars designed to run on that high octane? Would it perish the fuel lines or cause internal damage? Was just a thought lol 🙂

Seen people do rroads with before and after and cars on the test I saw lost bhp. I wouldn't waste your cash IMO .

The octane booster stuff does work, as it will increase the Ron rating a few points, however, you'd only really notice the difference on a turbo engine, and after a few tanks for the ECU to adjust

I'm putting my lack of speed on the track yesterday down to not running the fuel additive I usually use. I'm all for it.

I usually run around 40ml per 50L of 98octane fuel and after 1 tank you do notice a difference. Also if you compare my videos(yesterdays to any earlier ones). you will see the difference in acceleration and speeds with and without it.

i also use their oil additive as well which prevents wear. I've been running both these for the past 3 years in my astra's but we've been running it in other cars of ours for over 10 years.

I've never ran a fuel additive with the VXR, because it's always been run on 99ron Shell V-Power, but I've seen people add further octane boosters to it. Also seen people who are mapped having to use it when there is no super unleaded available, to bring the ron rating back up.

It can also be added to the fuel.

seems to be the same/similar product to what i use. I also use it in my gearbox as well I should of noted. stopped the crunching i got changing into 3rd on the track.

wow, wasnt expecting that really interesting.... so seems these could have a more placebo effect? As they said prolonged use could have an effect, maybe thats why guy 27, you noticed a difference when you didnt top up with it? Think it may be more a case of how and when you use it ie, on a track higer up the rev range rather than day to day driving.

1st tank I ran it in I didn't notice a difference. Once onto the 2nd tank I did start noticing a difference and the exhaust also started popping more.
not running it I did notice that above 3k rpm it didn't pick up speed as quick.

i just put acetone in my fuel tank🙂 everyone says im crazy . but i think it works.
it runs slightly better i think specialy the , hmm im bad in english but specialy when i dont drive when the engine is on .
i mean stationair.
they tested it in mythbusters and they say it doesnt do shit. but i think there test is with a old crappy v8 carb that even runs normal on very poor 91 octane

and to says that it destroys parts naa i dont believe so ,i had different cars where i tried it and they never had engine problems.
allot of other products like injector cleaner is acetone in it.

your fuel tank and lines are made of plastic. acetone eats plastic. not something you should really be putting in the fuel system.

naa what about the plastic bottle then? the acetone is in a plastic bottle.
and fuel got so different agressive things in it , i gues the tank and lines are strong enought to handle a little acetone .
but hey just my 2cents what i put in the tank 🙂 meaby im crazy i dont know.
