Vx say its normal for 1L per 1000 miles. I questioned this as that works out to 20L of oil in between each service ( the vec c has 20k service intervals) and at £40 per 5L of 5w 30 from the dealer that's going to cost £160 in oil just to get to the next service. Now I did my own interim services every 8k but following vxs own guidlines that's a stupid amount of money.
Anyhow, first off I got a new head as the first was cracked and then they re ringed the engine as there is a fault with the oil scraper rings all under warranty.
To top it off they timed it up wrong after it got re ringed and the engine went pop as I pulled off the dealer forecourt, so I ended up getting a new engine from them a well.
This engine is now on 60k and is now using about the same amount of oil as you. I'm using vx 10w 40 from Autovaux at about £12 per 5L
If it starts burning any more oil than its doing I'll start to find the fault but at the moment I'll let it slide.
