[FONT=Times New Roman]just got back from going to collect a Vectra 55 plate its in mint condition, apart from what we know about so far, the fogs 1 is cracked the other has broken apart that’s no big problem max £60 for a new set and the sat nav/display unit at night its fine during light hours the display carnt be seen. Is there a chance it’s a simple thing like a bulb etc?[/FONT]

as its new to us I don’t think it’s a dimmer as the fact its fine once its dark outside. every other light is fine.

The Vectra C will be SMD's, so I doubt it's a bulb which has gone? Have you made sure the dimmer is turned all the way to the top anyway?

Go into the settings and you can alter it, mines set for daytime all the time.

thanks for the info its my dads new car so his got it now so i cant go and try it. i looked at the dimmer and its turned as far as possible to = bright as poss. ill have a look when he comes back round and try the settings. not like my mk4 thats easy to sort lol.

The contrast is a different setting from night/day/auto. It just alters the contrast within each main setting. Day is backlit with black text, night is dark background with illuminated text and auto is.........

thanks rushy that was the problem somebody had set it to night all the time. his now set it to day time like you.

Glad you got it sorted mate. Mine is set to day because I changed the smds to white as I didn't like the standard yellow.

going back to this how to you get the contrast settings we carnt find it, as in certin light its still a bit dark? or is it just crapy yellow smds? is there a guide you followed on removing the units to change the smds?
