Well this is the last time I let anyone take advantage of my kind nature regardless of how good a friend he purports to be.
2 weeks ago I had a nice wee Mondeo for sale at £750. Fresh ticket, Timing belt and serviced. The MOT ran out on my mate's Vectra which is getting a bit long in the tooth. He liked the Mondeo so we agreed on a deal and I gave him it for £500 plus the Vectra and let him take it away on the understanding it would be paid for within the week.
That was 2 weeks ago now and the idiot is now barely acknowledging my messages and when he does all I get is false promises.
Lucky I kept a spare key as security. If I don't get the cash or the car back today I'll be removing the car from outside his work tomorrow night and leaving his old Vectra in it's place.
From now on I trust nobody. No cash equals no car. seemples.

Yup. Angry is an understatement. I'd love to be a fly on a lampost tomorrow night if he comes out of his work to find that Ive Repo'd it.
He doesn't know Im planning that but he has had the ultimatum. Just watch this space.

That's not nice of him at all. I hate trying to do business with friends, as some people do seem to really take the piss some times.

Yep. I made it a rule a few years ago to be honest. However half the time my cars advertise themselves and Ive always got someone on facebook spies one and inevitably buys it. I usually try and sell them out of the area to folk I don't know.

When and not if he comes back, he still aint paid up. I think your friend is a complete tosser to be honest. You shouldn't have to do the chasing!

The mondeo was going to get parked in a locked garage with another car blocking the door so he couldn't get it out even if he broke in for it.
I went to his work to repo it today but he was sat outside on his break. He's agreed to bring it back tonight and let me keep the Vectra for my hassle too. I'll wait and see what happens from here.

Got up this morning and found an envelope with £300 in it on the doormat. With a note saying he'll pay the other £180 on tuesday. I still have the spare key and the wife that he has just left is holding on to the documents for me till he pays it.

That's good of him to do that, i take it back about him being a tosser then. It's just irritating when these situations arise.

All paid for now. I aint ever selling cars to friends again as I now have an Astra that I sold my mate a few months ago lying at the door with no compression and probably a gubbed engine. It's hard to make a living on cars if you have a conscience. Looks like I'll have to swap it for a Vectra and fix it in my own time. :-(

That's not good! Is your mate expecting you to fix the Astra for him, or replace it with something else?

He aint expecting it and doesn't blame me for it packing up to be honest. Doesn't stop me feeling bad about it though. It was a good runner when he bought it from me and he can't afford to replace it or get it fixed.
