First live DJ set

I'm doing yay first live DJ set on the 11th August. There will be 3 of us covering 4 hours on a boat!

Only problem, we've been told to play funky house / hed kandi type stuff. I really don't like this style of music, and have never really listened to it. I've got a load of new tracks to play today, but I've no idea what is popular? I can mix it fine, as it's quite a simple style of music, but I'm just worried because it's not something I'd personally enjoy listening to.

Weird style, shame they would not let you play the stuff your used to playing with. You are best probably looking for a top 20 chart list of a newish album in that style of music. Hope you have a great day on the boat, sounds cool. Whats the crowd attendance like?

What mixing gear you going to use? They will probably be using Pioneer cd decks. It should be a good session 🙂

We are using my Numark / Laptop, and Pick also has a controller and a laptop. Both controllers will be going then into a Pioneer 2 channel mixer, so we can switch between the two set ups.

Can imagine it will be a bit tough, but if the atmosphere is good then sure you will enjoy it. Pitty it is sold out, even though hat isn't totally my cup of tea it looks good.

Apparently, the next one being organised is going to be harder styles of music. I really wanted to do a Hard Style set.

I used to use vinyl but I moved onto cd's. I now just use mp3's to mix with. It's cheaper than vinyl and better than having loads of cd's all over the place. I miss mixing with vinyl, they were fun to play with.
