My cousin has one of these units but in his case he works for Nissan designing the car security systems worldwide. You may have seen a documentary a few years back on the British Nissan team who were in Japan working in the new Gtr, if so that was him.
From memory he said these units were originally made for car repo's but as usual they fall into the wrong hands.
They pretty much work on all modern cars but in bm's case they placed the port in a blind spot that the alarm couldnt see.
Not seen the thread on vxronline but if the guys alarm is anything like the vec c's then you can't hear it, the sounder is in the boot and is super quiet, you could easily set the alarm off while getting to the port and you wouldn't get a twitch from the curtains.
An easy way to get a loud sounder is to just unplug the boot sounder and the main car horn takes its place, but as with anything on these modern electrics you end up with error alerts on both the dash and obc screen.
