Nikon D3000 help ?

Hi all

was using this on holiday over the weekend and all was good then it came up on the screen that the memory card can not be used it may be damaged insert a new card, which was odd as i only just took a picture with it, anyways turned the camera off checked the card slot and removed card put it back in and no messsage but then every time i took a photo it was just white no image at all, but i had camera in multi shoot mode so you hold the button down and it takes about 10 shoots one after the other, now the odd thing is if i do this the first picture every time is white then all the other 9 photos come out fine ?

have since bought a new card and it also is the same first photo is white then rest are fine, if you just take one photo at a time they all come out white ?

any ideas ? looked on the net and cant find any info on it :-(

Is there any firmware updates for the camera Gaz? It could be a software issue with it.

Failing that, Nikon have a pretty good after sales service, so I'd be giving them a call and see what they say about it.

where would i check that out matt ? its about 18 months old now so out of warranty i think

I'd still look into giving Nikon a call, as they service cameras as well.

Also, is the white image being written to the memory card? What do the images look like if you plug the memory card into a PC?

Also, are you shooing in RAW or JPEG?

if i put the memory card in the pc it is still just white but on playing what i have found is if i keep taking pics single shoots of the same thing after a few shoots it does have the iamge there just very very white ? but as soon as i take a muti shoot one the first is pure white then the rest are all fine.

not sure if its in RAW or JPEG how do i check that ? its been working fine for months then this issue, also tried another lends and its the same with this one aswell

It sounds like the flap isn't closing and causing the images to be over exposed, causing them to be white.

I'd double check the settings on the camera, and make sure it's all set up correctly. It could be something as simple as the ISO being set too high?

Are you shooting on Auto, or Aperture / Shutter / Manual?

yea its in auto but have tried it in all other modes and still the same

yea sure is an odd one, i wouldnt say its an issue with the card as the pics are fine after the first one in multi shoot mode, again cant be the lens as i have tried 2 and both are the same ? so has to be an issue with the camera, will try and ring and see what they say, prob will just get me to send it off to them ?

More than likely, but it's worth it as they will basically service the camera for you while it's there.
