Car judders when air conditioning is switched on

I noticed today that my Astra 2.2 SRi starts to judder when you switch on the air conditioning, going along the motorway hit the A/C button and the engine starts to randomly judder as if there is a fuel starve, turn the A/C off and back to normal.

When the A/C is switched on it seems to produce cold air then stop then start.

Any one ever had this issue?

earthing issue? try the old jumper cable between the engine and - terminal of battery trick, and see if it still does it?
