THERMOSTAT HOUSING LEAKING

hi guys...

i had a water leak and it was my thermostat housing...

i bought a new thermostat from vauxhall..

now when i got it..i fitted the new seal over the edge of teh stat like the old un was...but the new stat did not seem to be aswide as the old stat i took out...it did not go to the edge of teh recess..about 2/3 mm short...any ways..i thought this be odd but still fitted it...nuts done nice n tight etc...

temp is spot on with it..but tonight noticed that it still leaking out the bottom of the housing....

what can it be?

the thermostats normally sit perfect in the housing, they have either changed the design or given you the wrong thermostat

what part number did they supply ?

no this 1 did not sit flush to the recess...was about 2/3mm short...the bit i refer to is the bit that the 2 heater pipes and cts comes off..not the cover over the top.the 1 i took out said 54mm on it...

the new 1 i got was part number 12622410.

im off in to vaux tomoz with my engine number,old stat and part number of 1 they sent me to see whats what.

just got an old stat and top of housing out me shed from an old engine i took out the zaf...that says 54mm aswell

oh n i cant find a part number on the old stat..or the spare un i have either

well i got another stat from vaux..not much diff tbh..maybe 1/2mm...but fitted that and done the housing bolts F.T so lets see if its cured it...

Did the new stat fix the issue?
