Oil Starvation On Exhast Cam

Hi Guys

I have come across this here on the forum a few times before and was wondering what causes this issue

I had a Zafira come in this week with a terrible rattle worse than the normal chain rattle. At first i thought it was going to be a lifter however once i got the rocket cover off the Exhaust cam was dry and a few caps were broken/Cracked

I have ordered the customer a NEW head as this one is totally stuffed but im concerned about putting the new head on unless i know what caused it in the first place

the oil filter breaks up and a small piece blocks the oil pressure restrictor in the head (it's a steel collet with a 1mm diameter hole, pressed into the head itself, easy to see when the head is upside down)

Any pictures of what i should be looking at?

Also is there a way to check if the oil filter section on the block is blocked?

I found the oil pressure regulator.

Because im getting a new head the head side will not be blocked but how do i go about checking if its blocked on the block side?

the block side has rather large oil ways, the chain oil jet is worth checking
