leemarksmith Just gone out for further inspection for the repetitive taping and it's just snapped... The trappings gone and the engine chain sounds normal. There's oil on the belt from the old crank seal issue, is it the oil contamination or are these engines prone to anything seizing on the auxiliary belt... Just wanna know all the possibilities before I strip and fix as I'll get all the parts today 🙂
sandyc Check the belt tensioner alternator and air con pulleys are rotating freely with no roughness. Also check how secure these parts are.
leemarksmith Well was all running freely, changed belt after a lot of messing due to not having 2 decent jacks... Did 5 mile and it's slipped off! Propper pee'd off, not sure if I put tensioner on in right position, it was pointing down even when undoing bolt, once fitting it was swinging freely upwards until I forced it down and bolted it super tight?!?
Daz The tensioner shud only fit on in one place, as it has a guide pin which locates in a slot in the cover...
stu-2_2-sri My belt snap last sat it cause by a screw loose from under the air box so it all fix and good now
leemarksmith Daz said: The tensioner shud only fit on in one place, as it has a guide pin which locates in a slot in the cover... It seemed to lift easy and hit under the engine mount until I pushed it down and tightened it... Wonder if I've put it on wrong?
leemarksmith Do you lot remove the tensioner completely? Think that's my issue, I removed it, put on the belt, then tried to jam it in and bolt at same time, no spring action etc... Also can you over tighten these, heard a faint creak when i bolted it tight?
Daz All you need to do to relaease the tension is use a 3/8 drive rachet in the provided slot in the tensioner., no need to remove at all...
leemarksmith That's where I've gone wrong then lol, should have looked it up rather then guessing... I'll have another go tomo 🙂
leemarksmith In process now but can't get in with the 3/8 it's too close to the inner wing, what a ball ache!!!
