Car insurance - shop around

After ringing round these "specialist" insurers and my current insurance brokers Adrian flux I am totally appaled at some of the quotes I have been given. To then question the quote and be told 'oh all premiums have gone up 40%' is a total lie. They allegedly went up 40% last year so pull the other one. And how on earth when u question it can they drop the "best" price offered? Why don't they offer the best price in the first place?
I tried all the compare places and got a great deal with one, well worth shopping around and not believing the spiel that they quote us about premiums increasing cos the global market for newts has crashed so we need to fleece another 300quid off u this year.

It's the biggest scam going, I was with Tesco insurance and my premium this year went up from £300 to just over £1500! Phoned them up to question it, they wouldn't budge so needless to say I went elsewhere!

Totally agree. I thought my adrian flux renewal wasn't bad, though up 10% on last year. Managed to find a premium cheaper than last years and still waiting on a couple of other quotes. Who did you end up going with from the compare sites?

Bloody insurance stinks!

Almost got shafted again. Its time to renew the insurance on the Audi and we were quoted £615 from Admiral Insurance. I called them up and they dropped to £562. I then decided to go on confused.com and found cheaper quotes with Diamond and elephant.co.uk

Both companies are joined to Admiral. I then called up Admiral again this afternoon to cancel the renewal in favour of Diamond. Within a matter of minutes they were able to match the £414 quoted from Diamond?? A saving of £201!!

You're all a bunch of crooks!

they see us as cash cows

not our problem there is people out their scamming insurance companies - maybe you should spend money on investigating claims rather than banging up our premiums
