Remote central locking

1 of my keys Remote central locking stopped working I have found its fault as the battery holder has lost, broke its connections, tried to re solder it but its not having it. If I can get an old key and just swap the key section over then re sync it to the car will that work? or can i even up the game and get a mk5 flip key?

On ebay I can only find repair micro switches and not the battery bit that’s needed.

i would just get a new unit they are about £15 but you will need to match the idents up

Mines fucked too but i've put a piece of cornflake box card between the battery and the cover and all is well for almost 5 years now.

idents? there is a used key on ebay ends in a few hours will that be able to work if i take the board out and use my key and chip just re sync it?

fixed it now. for the time being, loads of solder and glue form a gluegun (heat type) changed the battery as i had to glue that as well poxy thing. still intrested if i can use another circuit board with my key and chip?
didnt have to resync either even tho its been in bits for the past 24 hrs

Get the central locking module and fobs off a car that is being broken for spares (as long as they work😉 ) and fit it to your car and re-sync the fobs. Worked a treat on my car last week.

if its any good i will have one this week off a astra coupe on a 2001 not sure how many fobs it will have
but i am told its in working order and i will check it on my car first

so you need the module as well then my thought wont work of just taking the chip from a key

you can get the fob but you will need the key pass and opcom
or you can get the unit and fob then its just a case of ingnition on off when you press the lock and unlock
on the fob

thanks for the info 😉 why do peole sell used keys on ebay then? would you need to reprogram the car for the new key.
same as when they buy just the main unit its self? there not just plug and paly are they?

Because if you have the keypass and access to Opcom / Tech2, you can re-programme the individual key to the existing car central locking system.

I need to get another key for the wife's Corsa, but we need to pay Vauxhall £40 for the keypass, and then pay them / someone to re-programme it to the car.

Yep, wouldn't have been as bad if we had got the keypass with the car, as VX are rob dogs when it comes to that. They only print a piece of paper off with the details on it from their system, as that is what I got when I bought the VXR, as the original pass was missing.

I'm already on first name basis with a few people in the local dealers due to me buying loads of parts for the shop here, but they won't discount labour for me :-(
