Went out in the car this afternoon. It was raining quite heavily. We'd been out shopping and sat in traffic so the engine was slightly warm. Upon return at home, I turned the engine off and noticed steam rising from the bonnet. The area above the manifold and cam cover was hot! Looks like i'll need to fit the heatsheild back on and have a look at that Nimbus G11 the Vocky has used around his manifold area.
funny you say that john as mine is heat wrapped ,a few weeks ago when we had torrential rain the car was left outside ,and somehow the heat wrap must have absorbed the moisture ,cuz as soon as i started the car there was steam piling from under the bonnet
ive got a bit of that nimbus g11 between the manifold and the wiring loom casing ,courtenays put it there as it was starting to melt it lol.
also after ive been driving really hard the bonnet is hot to touch where the manifold is from the outside ,maybe time for some astra gte bonnet vents
also when ipark it up in the garage as it casts a shadow of the car on the back wall you can see the heat escaping between the bonnet and wing
