Looks like another year with Flux

I was not looking forward to this years quote but just had my renewal come through and was pleasantly surprised with £462. I did try Sky this year but they quoted £592 with a higher excess. The highest quote I had was £1300. Has anyone got Flux breakdown service and used it as I'm considering moving from Rac this year due to the cost.

I chose not to get their breakdown cover, as I get it free with my Halifax current account.

i have the breakdown on my policy,thought it would be wise with a auto, its quite comprehensive includes europe but i havent had to use it yet. touch wood!!!

Ive used the Flux Rescue (breakdown) a few times in the last 4 years and they are spot on! Always been within the hour with good contact etc. VERY VERY handy esp if you damage 2 tyres like I did in the Zafira (piece of metal fell off a skip lorry on the motorway in front of me).

You get all the AA offers including homestart, any destination etc for £52 with Adrian Flux (much cheaper than AA / RAC).

Unless its RAC, AA or green flag van most companies use "mondial"... That's banks, car manufacturers and other insurance companies, it's all the same people that turn up in unmarked silver vans that say breakdown on the side so the services are all the same 🙂

That's good to hear. Will definitely be adding it this year, but hopefully won't have to use it. Been with Rac for last 4 years, not used once, but paid for with tesco clubcard vouchers. It's about £65 this year. Better off using vouchers for days out for the kids, at least I'll get 4 times the value. Thanks guys.

Matt. I'd check to see what level of cover the bank breakdown service is offering. I had to go and rescue a mate once who had called the bank provided service. The breakdown guy turned up, took one look at the burst hose under the bonnet, said he couldn't fix it then promptly buggered off and left him stranded. He was lucky I had the GF's Frontera with my A Frame in the boot that day.

I choose to keep my breakdown cover seperate so I know exactly what Im paying for. All I want is my vehicle taken home from wherever it has broken down. It's peace of mind as I can't expect a mate to come and drag me home hundreds of miles away at the drop of a hat and I no longer have the GF with the Frontera either. lol

My bank one sent 3 recovery vehicles in space of 2 hours to get me sorted... When I cheekily decided to buy my mates Vec-C cdti, non runner!

Standard van checked codes and couldn't get it running (we knew belt had gone), then sent a second to tow, but as it was too low to pull on they had to send a 3rd the use for high end cars... Took me straight home.

Was funny tho, the first guy that turned up remembered me from 4 months before when the battery died on the 2.2, I just said the CDTI was my work horse 🙂... Only 2 times I've used them in 5 years, and they are Mondial, check with your banks etc who the covers through...

Will get the paper work out tomorrow and take a lookie at what it says. Touch wood, I've never had to use it, and won't be needing to any time soon either.

I gave Chris Knott a call this morning to see how competitive flux were as last year I just accepted the renewal quote. Knott gave me a better quote of £430 which includes keycover and personal accident cover both of which flux charge extra for and is not in my renewal quote. Will give flux a call and see what they say but I am impressed with today's quote. Has anyone else gone with Chris knott?

Yeah, it's good to be able to have a few insurance providers on here where we can get them all to quote and arrive at the best deal

Well after finally getting back to me the quote from Tim at Prestige was way too much, nearly 50% more than my current renewal with flux. Not competitive at all.
