bigdeek1989 what does it mean as i hear it all the time i have a vectra c 2.2 sri and my car has a catilistic converter that is on my exhaust manifold and if u remove it cant it fail an mot
Matt bigdeek1989 said: what does it mean as i hear it all the time The Z22SE has two cats fitted. A smaller one fitted before the main cat, which is in the downpipe from the manifold. Removing this makes the exhaust breath better as it's VERY restrictive. Plenty of reading in here: https://z22se.co.uk/forums/exhausts-pre-cat.61/
Matt You drill out the element inside the exhaust, and no, it won't fail an MOT. https://z22se.co.uk/library-articles/remove-pre-cat.10/
Matt Nope, you are just drilling out the element inside, not the outer exhaust. Loads of people have done it.
bigdeek1989 so the cat is the part connected to the flexi as i have the big cylinder thing that apart of the exhaust manifold all just have a wee look tomorrow lol thanks matt been great as per lol

Does make a difference well worth it lol
Daz The vec c "doesnt" have a pre-cat... they have a manicat, so dont be touching the one you have fitted or it will fail the mot,..,.
Matt Daz said: The vec c "doesnt" have a pre-cat... they have a manicat, so dont be touching the one you have fitted or it will fail the mot,..,. Ah, I was going on some previous threads which said the early Vec C's did have a pre-cat https://z22se.co.uk/threads/pre-cat.7359/#post-74160 for example
bigdeek1989 so does my vectra c have one or should i leave it its a vectra c 2.2 sri 52 plate as dont want to touch if theres no point
Daz Have a look under the car... if you have a cat after the flexi pipe then you will have a precat.. if theres no cat under the floor then you have a manicat ..
rushy To my knowledge all Vec C 2.2's have a mani cat and no pre cats. Vid's 52 plate was the same. I've never seen a Vec C 2.2 without this set up. I think the only petrol Vec C's that have pre cats are the 2 V6's 2.8 and 3.2. The main cats can be removed on these but the pre cats have to stay unless you want problems.
Daz Vids deffo had a mani-cat, as i removed it and fitted a diff manifold on there with one of my downpipes..
