do the standard springs really need compressed for removal?
you definitely dont need to compress 40mm springs to put them on the struts.
Its only 4 bolts need removing to then remove the strut (top mount, 2 on the bottom of the strut and one for the droplink) You will need an 18mm deep set to remove the top mount along with the appropriate allen key.
