given up on what was being fitted as they didnt last 5 mins.this last one was only 6 weeks old! si ive fitted a section of marine class flexible exhaust section to see how that lasts.ive gone for mild steel tho not stainless as the stainless was cracking inside the flexi's

so we will see how this goes!

what you have to ask yourself is why they are only lasting a short time ? is there excessive engine movement/rocking causeing extreme wear and movement on the flexi causing them to break ?? all engines move to a degree hence a flexi being in place on most but they should last longer than 6 weeks !!!!!

nope not realy moving at all now since i fitted the engine mount burt made for me

I'm going to get my knob out again and piss on your fire! I had one of those fitted the very first time that my car went to Courtenay. Lasted about 4 months!

If then engine itself isn't moving, could it be the rest of the exhaust which is moving causing excessive stresses on the flexi??

What exhaust hangers have you got Paul? Are they firm or soggy? I've got a complete set of Powerflex hangers.

i would have thought it would help if the exhaust moves a bit, less strain on the rest,but surely if the exhaust is moving then so is the engine? but its not realy i dont think.what is normal movement? be interesting to see a video of other guys engine movement.when it stops raining lol ill do one of mine then maybe we can make a comparison?

Mine could kick around an half inch or more on good mounts.

i try and move the car with the handbreak on and it dont seem to move that much.maybe its moving more than i think when driving?

The engine hardly moves at all in the Astra. Its just the Vectra that has a problem.

its more the swift change/kick of the torque that will move it.
