Supercharged from Holland...

Thought I finally gave something back to this great forum which I gained so much information from.

The car is a 2003 Opel Astra 2.216v. After scavenging for parts I started in January 2012 with the supercharger conversion. I don't have a lot of pictures from the actual work my nephew and I carried out, but I do have some near-completion photos:

It's a stage 2 conversion with chargecooler setup. The suspension is upgraded to a Bilstein / Eibach B12 setup. Below is a picture of the chargecooler rad I used. It's a small rad that neatly fits besides the fan for the A/C.

How it drives? I have no clue! I'm waiting on the ECU-remap from Courtenay Sport for three months now... So the car is in storage and waiting for its ECU to be installed. I still have to reroute some wiring and hoses and hopefully it is ready to go soon.

We did run the engine after everything was installed to check if there were any leaks. All seemed fine and it already sounded very nice. This is how it looks right now after a good wash:

Thanks, mate. I have been in touch with Courtenay, they're being as helpful as they can. From what I understand, all maps from the VX220 "supercharged" ECU have to be transferred to the Astra ECU. And that seems to be a lot of work. The difference between the two of them is VX220 doesn't have traction control and A/C and both systems have different fan control. Also I've been told the Vectra "supercharged" ECU (which you are using?) has different maps and fan control.

How is yours running after the dyno-session?

Thanks. Maybe (if you choose to send your ECU to Courtenay) they can use the base file they are making for me. I don't know... Your car is looking stunning by the way!!

oh right didnt realise the maps were different ,mine took 2 weeks ,i also dont have aircon now.
its running spot on now ,so much useable power its a dream to drive ,quite good on fuel now its set up proper on instant consumption its getting low 50's ,but on the proper consumption run its mid 40's ,around town high 20's to low 30's that without a heavy foot lol

Nice to hear it drives that well! I'm really interested in those fuel consumption figures.
Last time I used the Astra (that's before the S/C conversion) I was running an average of 8.3 liter / 100 km which is 34 mpg.
I always thought I'd be using a lot more fuel with the supercharger on. Looks like it's more or less the same :thumbup: Nice to know with current gas prices.
Is that with BP Ultimate (RON 98)?

yeah pretty much the same ,obviuosly the more you keep it out of boost and drive steady the better the mpg ,but i do give it the odd blip here and there ,the whine is so addictive lol.
when i do give it some when on boost its reading 12 mpg on the instant consumption
yeah im using bp 97 ron

I hope for you that Courtenay isnt waiting for the german software from Hitec. Because im not shure that they will get this software soon...

Hmmm... I thought they worked with Klasen Motorsport for remapping. What's your plan on the ECU remap?

I knew somebody who had an supercharged astra g 3door. Sadly his car buened down. Now he is rebuilding his car and i can use his program too. So ill get my ecu with an basic setup back and go next month for a individual setup.

Yes, I read about that on some webforum... Problems with the battery or something right. I placed my battery to the trunk and the place where the powercable is coming inside the engine compartiment is quite tricky. I sealed it with an iron compartiment now. Good to hear you are already set up for the ECU.

Hi,
no it wasn´t the battery. He dont knew the exact reason but he thinks that it was a leaking feulhose or the power steering.
I hope my race battery will do it also in the engine bay. It´s smal but powerfull 🙂
