Balance chain spare part

Righty...been building up my 'spare' engine....yes the on-going one with the B207 head and fitted the new balance chain kit today. The only problem i have is i have a spare part. On typing the p.No in it says it is a crank spacer, but i didn't have one on the old kit that came off, so, i was wondering if this is an extra for another variant of the 2.2? The number is 12789081 and it is basically a ring with a key slot that is about 8mm thick. Any ideas?

I have several of them spare. Never needed to use them

it's for the B207 engine so not required for the z22se

Nice one...cheers guys....is the first kit i've had that has had it in and was wondering if it was a mod or summat.

the SAAB B207 has a thicker lower sprocket, so you need to use the spacer to align the thinner z22se/z22yh sprocket with the chain

Bit of a resurection here, but i'm finally putting the engine in 🙂
Has been sat in the garage for yonks and theres no way the Vectra will pass the emmisions this year as it stands.

lmao, yeah i know........always something else to do, but now i've bitten the bullet, engine is gonna be pulled tomoz. Stripped everything out today, lpg included, so just need to decide if i'm gonna fit the climate control now! Probably will as i have the full loom sitting here.

Yep, know what you mean.....have just rewired an MG TF, but this has a quarter of the wiring of the Vec......but, i like a challenge ;-)

Sod the challenge! lol! MG has thrown a wobbly now so ive had to change the alternator today. Not gonna bother with the climate now as i need a reliable car for work and the MG just isnt there yet.
