over revving at start-up

hi,
not long had my astra 2.2sri so all is new to me. as title it over revs when starting up, i have taken off the tb and egr and cleaned both and its gone from revving 1500-2000 rpm and got worse now going to 2000-2500 and revs when pulling away through the gears.. any ideas on what else it might be.

the ecu will relearn over time or simply unplug battery for 45 mins

could be a faulty EGR. Mine started doing it so went vauxhall, brouggt a EGR BLANKING PLATE, about £5. Doesnt affect exhaust emissions. Idle went back to normal.

for whatever reason vauxhall said they dont make a blanking plate for my engine model, is this true or they trying to make me buy a new egr.

i got mine from vauxhall spares at vauxhall dealer, try another vauxhall dealer mate. Its black metal and 1cm thick.
