Bad news! :(

Okay, so i posted a thread this morning about my car using oil after a full re-build. Got home from work tonight and gently revved the car to just over 5000 rpm, and there is blue smoke!
I dont understand why this is happening, i replaced everything, and took it easy for the 1000 miles i was told.
Any one have any ideas as too why this might be happening?
Pissed off is an understatement.

As always, any help is much appreciated.

Update (if anyone's reading lol).
Just did a compression test and 3 of the cylinders came up with 160 psi (11.031592 - bar) and the other cylinder came up with 158 psi (10.893697 - bar).
Now ive looked on the net and different people are saying different manufacturer figures.
Does anyone know if my figures are about right, or is my engine f**ked 🙁

Did you replace stem seals and valves and guides?

Sorry to hear that you are having issues, after reading many posts about rebuilds yours is not the first that aftyer a rebuild is burning oil, as Johnny said did you do the guides?

Had to replace 4 valves, replaced stem seals. Didnt replace guides as they looked fine. Ground all the valves back in.
Had the piston rings fitted and the honeing done by a garage.

Yes mate it was. Got told when i took the head to be skimmed that the guides were okay, but im not too sure now if i believe every word, as ive just read that when a valve hits the piston, its most likely that the guide has cracked, is this true?

Okay, so would i be wise to strip the head down, replace the guides, new seals, grind the valves back in?
Ive also read that the guides are pressed out and in? Would this also be true and cause more heartache to me? lol.
Do the compression readings seem about right to you?

when my piston played with my valve i had to get new guides fitted.

Also using my compression tester (dry) i have had readings on a few standard engines in the approx 14 bar range (+- half a bar)

wouldnt the split guides come up on the compression test they did when the head was skimmed?
And if all of mine are that low, what does it point to?

I would take the head back to where you had it done and ask them to recheck it. If its def ok then something in the block is playing up ( maybe rings?)

Knackered guides wouldn't show up on a compression test as the valves would be shut to create the compression and the guides are above them.

Would knackered guides cause the car to smoke at a high rpm though? As it doesnt seem to be smoking on tick over or start up.
Granted the car isnt using as much oil as before the rebuild, but she is still using it like its going out of fashion 🙁

it was a pit of despair i certainly couldnt cope with, i have to have a working car out in the sticks.🙁 still the veccy gets a wee bit better every weekend

I feel your pain mate, cars are nightmares, but i wouldnt be without them.
Guess ill just have to strip her down again and take it from there. either that or a new engine 🙁
