When the VXR turbo was fitted, do you know if the water pipes were connected as per the old LET set up, or the VXR set up? There are two different cooling set ups and I've read a couple of times on AOC that if the wrong one is used, it damage the turbos.
I also don't understand exactly why the LET still seems to kill the VXR turbos, but they hardly ever seem to go on the LEH o_O
