EGR question...

Im thinking of blanking of the EGR and fitting the cheater due to a bit of a dull spot when i try and put my foot down, i have cleaned the TB which made a differance and fitted new air and fuel filters...

my question is can i purchase the blanking plate from the main stealer fit it and see if it makes a differance before fitting the cheater?

also how often would you swap spark plugs and wjhat are the best ones, i think il get my mechanic to do it as have heard horror storys about snaping them im the engine etc...

I'm not sure if the stealers still do blanking plates, I asked and they said they'd stopped.

Spark plugs should be done every 40k miles/4 years, the best ones are the GM ones, £2 each on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-VAUXHALL-SPARK-PLUGS-Z22SE-ENGINES-/260787311835?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cb82294db

You don't need a mechanic to change them if you use a torque wrench (20Nm). They cause problems with cracked cylinder heads because people overtighten them.

I can still get blanking plates, just sold out of them at the minute.

Spark plugs as above, I've has a couple of sets off him and so have many more people on here.

I might "borrow" a torque rench from work and have a bash.. i heard they can crack the head if they were put in to tight when originaly fitted.

what about fitting the blank plate without the cheater to se if it makes a differance, can i do this?

Yes, just leave the EGR valve connected and swing it to one side.

ok here is my main stealer blanking plate/gasket.

question: whats the hole for?

is this a new design?

Am i ment to use this instead of the original gasket and leave the EGR connected, so the valve can still pop up and down through this hole?

seems a bit odd i was expecting a solid metal cap....what the fu!@s going on!

That's the wrong blanking plate for the Z22SE

The one you have bought is for the 1.8 Petrol engine
