Mark_Dj Has anyone else used the free online storage you get with Virgin media? I think you get 10GB free storage for files and photos. I used it last night for the first time to put up a photo. This morning when I turned my pc on the backup and storage screen popped up and it looks like it's scanning my pc, it's been doing it for hours. Is that normal? I just hope it's not taking all my stuff to the online storage point
Matt Did you just add a single file, or did you tell it to store a whole folder? I've used a similar backup feature on Ubuntu, and it basically mirrors the folders you tell it to onto the cloud online storage.
Mark_Dj The picture was on my desktop. I have stopped the backup thing doing what it was doing, I just pressed the X button on the corner. I am not sure what it was doing though. It's been running for ages.
Matt Not sure then Mark. I know when my backup software runs (I've got software installed which automatically backs up files from my Laptop to my NAS), it just does the files ad-hoc, and doesn't take ages to run.
astra22bertoneauto Ive not used any form of online backup & ive never liked the idea tbh. I always backup onto an external hdd or memory stick. It sounds like you may have accidently installed one of their advertising programs
Mark_Dj This is what I have up on the screen when my pc is booted up, I get this box up for the backup storage. The middle part has been doing that for hours :zzzz:
astra22bertoneauto I think that program scans the whole computer constantly. When it detects a file has changed it reuploads it. Is there some settings that you can turn off so it doesnt do that?
Mark_Dj I will check it later today to see if it has some settings to switch off the scan. I still need to work out how to get the link for my photo lol Sent from my iPhone 4 using Tapatalk
