jwalker Excuse the crap pic, but I took my exhaust manifold off today and noticed the precat was completely white and not like the pics that are around on the site. Does anyone know what might have caused this to happen? I've had no issues with the car so can't imagine what it might be
jwalker Recently replaced spark plugs with genuine GM ones, also replaced the thermostat, CTS and change the oil every 3000 miles
astra22bertoneauto I think the white is boiled water same to what you get in a kettle. Have you been losing water? Also you STILL have a precat?

astra22bertoneauto Matt said: Limescale? Only thing i can think of......is water leaking into the engine and being burnt off??? What else would turn white when hot?
jwalker Would burning off water actually cause it to go white though? I noticed it in every branch of the manifold too, yes my car loses water but I know it's leaking around the thermostat somewhere. I live in the north so doubt it's limescale
jwalker Spark plugs look ok to me? The engine runs on LPG most of the time but didn't think that would be a problem
Matt Done a bit of digging online, and based on the car running LPG: The plugs should be a slightly off white colour when running on lpg - the exhaust sould look the same not black like a petrol engine. So, what you've got looks perfectly normal for a car running LPG
Matt jwalker said: That explains that then, never knew that. Thanks for checking 🙂 Neither did I. Took a bit of digging on google to find the information. You'd think they would tell you of things to be aware of with a LPG conversion, because I know I'd question something being wrong with white lining my exhaust.
jwalker The LPG conversion came with the car and I've never had the exhaust off myself, so never knew any better. The white stuff was almost like a powder, so I definitely started to worry when I saw it!
