JohnnyN I've been doing a bit of reading on these new Yellow Stuff pads for a while now and fancied giving them a try. The Red Stuff pads have been good and are outstanding for low dust. The bite from cold isn't great though. Christines Audi has awesome brakes as OE. They are without question better than mine. I want better braking now so the pads seemed like a good place to start. After a quick call to Mark Watts last weekend, I purchased front & rear pads. They arrived on Wednesday and today was the first chance that I had to fit them. I've never attempted to replace the rears myself before. After a reassurance call from Daz I set about changing them first. It was easy! I cleaned up the discs, securing pins and spring clips then gave them all a coat of paint. The calipers were looking like they needed freshening up so they got done too. I repeated this all the way round and it all looks like new again. I've not tried them yet as I want the calipers to dry first so tomorrow I will take a gentle run around the block. Pics .....
Matt Nice work John! Interested to know what you think of them once they are bedded in. I've also fixed the images in the post for you, if you attached the Thumbnails, they will display better
JohnnyN High temp manifold paint. It dries with a matt greyish colour. They were originally painted with Smoothrite around the outer edges and the hubs. I even painted each individual groove with an artist brush. Couldn't be arsed with that again so after seeing Mark Watts spraying his discs I thought that was a much quicker way forward. I gave everything a good clean up first with brake cleaner.
Matt Excellent, thanks John. That's something I need to do with mine, as they look rather tired on the inners, and let the shiney black wheels down
Daz Told you there were easy john.... never seen brake discs painted onthe surface like that b4 tho...
JohnnyN Popped down to the chinese earlier. The paint aint on the disc face no more, lol! The initial grab is definately better when you put your foot on the brake.

JohnnyN The Red Stuff indeed still have many miles of fun left in them yet. I'm just on a quest to get that bite from cold. As I mentioned above, they are faultless for dust. I can wash the wheels and they still look clean over 2 weeks later with everyday use.
Daz I have the red stuff ones on the vxr, and as you say john. when there cold, there aint no bite to them...
