Virgin Media Super Hub

I have just got my Virgin media super hub today and I am having trouble with it. I can't get my Iphones to connect to it notsure.gif . I am not getting very good internet connection. I have done a speed test and I am getting under 1Mb :lol: :evil: . My passwords won't work for the wireless connection for my Iphone. I have been into the settings and changed all the standard paswords to new ones and wrote them all down. My Iphone is picking up the super hub but the password won't work. I have not even tried to get the Ps3 set up yet. That should be fun as well :crazy: . My internet is running rubbish

did virgin install it mark?... as they did when i got mine... wireless is a total pain in the arse on them, keeps dropping out all the time

I have just read a few people are having bother with the wireless super hubs. What some people are doing are adding their old wireless routers onto the super hub so the wireless works better. I think I might try that

Well that plan is not going to work for me now, I have just burnt the old wirless router up. I plugged in the wrong power supply :crazy:

Not sure Matt. I am up early to try and fix this as my PS3 won't even find my new super hub. My phones won't connect to it. The reception is only two bars now instead of 3 bars like it used to be for the wifi for my iphones when I am upstairs. I am wondering if I can plug an ethernet cable direct from my PS3 to the superhub, so I don't have to connect it by wifi notsure.gif . I was even thining of going out and buying a new supehub, one thats better than this D-Link one I got from them yesterday. My internet is running rubbish at the moment. I can't even do a speed test as it's taking ages to work :crazy: . I went from 20Mb yesterday to 30Mb and it's worse than before. Something is not right notsure.gif

Hiya Mark

Im always having trouble with the wireless on my super hub. Every now and then i have to restore factory defaults.

Try changing the wireless 802.11 mode to 145mbps, make sure the band is 2.4Ghz. Security mode should be WPA auto. Also remember any cordless house hold appliances will interfere with it so just change the wireless channel. I have mine on 11 as i have cordless house phone. I find with those setting the kids get wireless ok on their DSi's, the Wii connects and keeps the missus happy with her lappy.

Cheers, I will try it. I was even thinking of going out and buying a new super hub from Argos as I have heard the VM one is rubbish. I have been on hold now for 47 mins to VM to see why my internet speed is so poor. Did you have poor internet speeds? Cheers

Right, I have removed the new super hub and put my old modem back on. I am only getting 5.63mbs and 0.04mbs of upload speed. Something is not right notsure.gif

Ive always liked Netgear ones. Are you on cable or does it plug into phone line? The router you picked is for telephone connections.

I am on cable, Virgin Media. Knowing my luck I probably was looking at the wrong one. I have defo burnt out my old wireless router. It won't work on the old setup 🙁

I've got a virgin super hub here you can have for £15 if it's of any use to you, I had virgin tv and broadband but ended up cancelling the lot, worked spot on when I did have it though.

I have a tech guy coming out on Monday. They did a test online and he said all is well at the VM side, but something at my home was giving them a high signal. They are coming to fix it on Monday. Cheers for the offer.

Glad you got to botom of it. you should tell VM you want compensation and get some ££££'s off your bill 😃

Thats true. My internet at the moment is like dial up. It very slow. It takes a while to load a page up on the net :crazy:

My speed is working again now, they have not even been out to fix it yet notsure.gif

30.80mbs Download speed and 1.04mbs upload speed is what I have now
