Hello, need a little help

I have got an 03 2.2 sri direct petrol with 80000 miles and it likes to cut out in low revs and sitting in traffic. The car like to cut out and put the eml light on, it will not start straight away after this happens. When turning the key after it has cut out you get nothing, doesn’t even try to start. Leaving it for about 2-5 mins it will start and run with the eml light on.

Drove about 160 miles trip the other day without a problem, got 5miles from home and road works had me in traffic for 5mins and the car just cut all power. Got it started again but it cut out 2 mins after while driving, lost all power, tired dropping it a few gears to give it a kick in the a** but it just died.

I have found the car a bit hesitant and lumpy sitting in low revs, below 2500rpm. The car runs fine above 2500rpm and is nippy with no hesitation, cant drive flat out everywhere.

I have read a few posts of faulty fuel pumps and faulty EGR valves .Can any one help me on this 1 and point me in the right direction

You have a none direct mate, the Z22SE, unless you drive a Signum or an Estate. The none direct doesnt suffer from the fuel pump problem like the direct.

my mistake, just a 2.2 petrol.

If it says Direct on the back of the car i think you have the Z22YH engine.

no its the z22se engine, checked it out. some one said they think it could br the Egr valve. Doing my head in, you cant trust it at all

Just unplug the egr. It will make the eml come on but drive it see if it does the same thing.

yea going to disconnect the egr and see. was looking in to cleaning it, just have to get the 2 gaskets before i do.

I dont think you have to worry about the gasket mate, it's metal and has always made a seal on mine when I took it off.
