I'm helping my ISP test a new service they are planning to roll out, and as part of this I get the extra upgrade for free :thumbup:

I'm synced with their network at a full 70Mbps download and 17.5Mbps upload now.

Saying that Virgin are meant to be rolling out 200Mb broadband this year.......

Yeah, I'd love to be in the VM area, but it stops about half a mile from our house. I'm really impressed with the company I'm using at the minute, they are doing quite a lot of custom work for me. They have just assigned me a static IP address which isn't something they'd normally do.

I've also been out and bought a new Belkin N300 adapter for my Laptop, so I can make full use of the wireless speed on the new router

I've already got the Netgear home plugs which I'm seeing 180mbit between them. My laptop only had 802.11g WiFi where as the router can do 802.11n.

I've got the NAS connected upstairs via a Negear GigE switch which connects to the other end of the Netgear home plug and then into the router down stairs.

Yeah, they have contacted my in-laws about their upgrade, and they'll be getting 100mb as well.

I dont know. I think its already fibre cabling to the street boxes then copper core cable to the houses. Im guessing they are upgrading their equipment. 100mb was already available to me if i wanted to pay more money last year. I heard from a Virgin engineer that last year they were testing 200mb in my area. So im guessing they will offer 200mb as well pretty soon........

200mb will mean a lot of servers hosting sites could start to struggle, as single users could max out the uplink ports as they will still be on 100mb switch ports.

Yeah i know what you mean. I run gigabit ethernet at home with optional wireless N if i need it.

My upgrade from Virgin in in July. I have the XL broadband package and I just did a speed test to see what I am getting now......
