Well,had precat de-catted last Friday and unfortunately have opened a can of worms. Eml came on and car went into limp as soon as de-precatted,did this for a few days so dropped main cat to find its nackered too,all blocked up and battered. Knocked out the innards and refit. That seemed to get rid of eml and limp,much to my surprise and god was I impressed,car is now wildly quick but seems at a cost...exhaust is now pouring out smoke,can't tell what colour yet as only driven in the evening but absolutely pours out. Also,it now stalls every now and then after pressing clutch when coming to stop. I've obviously got serious problems but can anyone shed any light as to what I should be looking?

Did you remove the precat yourself? Maybe some debris has fallen into the main cat?

Yeh I cleared the main cat out,knocked all the inside through so its basically a de-cat pipe now,gotta feeling by fully decatting its just highlighted possible piston rings failure,can't be sure but have had oil consumption issues since owning the car

sounds a bit like mine at the mo.
the lack of cat in mine makes it look worse than it is too.
i use about half a litre a week but mines a z20net and has a mechanical timing chain tensioner and yours probably has oil pressure based so really keep an eye on the oil levels otherwise it may fail.
